Cannot create MyQ connection

I am not able to create a connection to MyQ.  I get unknown credentials every time.  Have absolutely confirmed my credentials.  Have tried both on the app and the web interface from PC.  Am I doing something wrong?

  • I also went from the invalid_request message back to invalid credentials message just now.   We need to get the MyQ link back!!!

  • Still down? Or is it just me now still doing something wrong. SC takes me to the MyQ sign in page but then won't take my credentials.

  • 9:05pm ET and its still down for me.

  • Ron G since your previous posting with "support" not sure which cause I did the chat with Chamberlain and they basically said they only support the MyQ app not anything with 3rd party and the API issue. Have you heard or know how to reach out to the department that is actually working on this?

  • Cory Schmaltz, My contact was with Simple Commands - Chamberlain are hellbent on blocking all third-parties that don't pay them, so not surprised by their response to you.

The email response that I posted was from support@simplecommands.zendesk.com

  • Cory Schmaltz, are you still unable to use the API key I posted (just curious)? I posted that to my blog and one user also was failing with the new API, while others, like myself, were working just fine.

I do have an addendum in relation to Ron G, the geofencing with Shortcut automations does not work without user intervention. Shortcuts creates a message when it senses the geofence, but then one has to click Run to actually run the linked Shortcut.

  • I read your post but it refers to Apple shortcuts. I dont believe I can use those on my Note. Am I wrong or are these shortcuts for Android in general.

  • @Mary Higginbotham referring to Shortcuts for iOS Apple

  • Mary supposedly Google is working on an addition to Google Assistant which will do what Shortcuts on iOS does.

  • I might have to start the learning process to use iOS shortcuts, but before I do, could someone confirm that I'll be able to use geofence Open/Close again like I did with Simple Commands?

Edit: I see earlier post confirming that there’s no auto geofence commands

  • Ron G, please see my previous post about geofence and Shortcuts. (I think four above.) Follow Cory Schmaltz link above to get Shortcuts already made on Reddit. If you use those you will have to change the API as noted. This is a good guide for starting with Shortcuts. It's not free, however. https://learn.macsparky.com/p/shortcuts13

  • Still getting Invalid credentials, please try again. Sent an inquiry on over the weekend and still haven't heard back. Anyone else know what's going on?

  • Not a word from SC.

  • Yup. Also sent an additional query and crickets. For some reason, SC must be having a more difficult time with the new API

  • I haven't got support from SC nor Chamberlain, perhaps it was wasted time and money with myq.  So I ordered this:

Amazon.com: Smart Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener, Compatible with Apple HomeKit, Siri, Alexa & Google Assistant, No Hub Needed, Wireless Remote Control: Electronics

  • Yeah, thought I about get one of these wireless adapter thingies, but it won't let me program the geofencing like in SC or create a scene in Alexa so that I can bundle a single routine to open/close garage door, turn on/off Ring, turn on/off ecobees, etc at once, right?

  • I am just ticked that even with ifttt the only thing you can do is close your door. If Chamberlain wants to charge for this crap..I see no way at all to pay for it

  • I'm not giving up on SC. They've always addressed the issue before when the MyQ API changed. They also reported that they had the current API working in their Dev environment. Their service is free and has been working for quite a while all at no cost. It does suck that my doors don't close when I leave or open when I return, but when it works, it's great so...

  • I'm still patiently waiting and checking each day in hopes that at some point I will finally be able to make that all important myQ connection. Meanwhile I guess I'll just go back to opening the myQ app itself or dig around for the original garage door opener. It's here somewhere...

  • I read in an older post with a similar issue that SC said to reset your MyQ password and it should work. I've already tried that and it still did not work. Anyone else try that? Anyone else hear back from SC? At the very least, I'd like get an ETA on this resolution.

  • I tried that too with no joy. We must have read the same post. I've even disabled my ad blocker and VPN.

  • Wish there was an ETA for this fix too. Been trying to connect SC to MyQ every day in hopes that the issue got fixed but no joy for now. Really looking forward to this fix.

  • Trey we did have an ETA but its been a week since that.

We have the fix working in dev and will have the fix
moved to our production servers by Mon/Tues at the latest.

It would be great if SC could give us a status update so that we know to wait a while or find something else.

  • Yes, an update on where SC is on the fix would be nice. Still, unlike IFTTT SC remains free to use so there is that.

In the meantime, I've been using the Automate location trigger within Shortcuts. This does require a click on the notification to run the Shortcut. I guess for privacy, Apple won't run a location automation automatically. Works almost all the time when I leave in the morning to do my walk. When I come back in the car it's a crap shoot so I just use the clicker in the car like I did before the automation.

I've tried a couple other solutions. Can't find a way to do an Open Garage with IFTTT. There's a couple of Launcher apps for iPhone. None seem to work in the free modes. I have some questions in to the developers. If I get anything useful, will post here.

  • Is SC the only free app that lets you program scenes and routines for MyQ? I figure there has to be something else out there. I have an android, so not sure if that limits my options.

  • James  those are not free, so can be considered off-topic here, or spam.

  • If you are good at following instructions check out https://github.com/rjcohn/alexa-pymyq. He did a wonderful job and included all the code and exactly how to set it up. I am back up and good to go thanks to his instructions and whoever here in one of these myQ threads pointed me there. And this method should only cost you about 30 minutes.

  • I also seem to have a new fix, complete with non-interaction geofencing. It involves using Samsung SmartThings with Alexa (before, I was using SimpleCommands with Alexa for non-interaction.) It was not easy nor intuitive unlike Mary's description above. But, it does seem to be working (will report back if not.) The instructions are here: http://thingsthataresmart.wiki/index.php?title=Community_Installer_(Free_Marketplace)#Installation . As a caution, I will add it takes patience for everything to show up in the SmartThings app.

  • I used a custom Alex skill for a few years before finding SC. I'm still hopeful that SC will resolve the API/Login issue so I'm just going to wait it out. I have routines written for a 3rd party app that close both doors when I leave and open the door corresponding to the car I'm driving which I've only been able to get to work with SC. Glad everyone is able to come up with options though!
