Once you are familiar with the concept of Items in SimpleCommands it is time to dive into SimpleNames. SimpleNames allow you to personalize how you would like to address your Items and were created with the SimpleCommands Alexa skill (kloee for SC) in mind. SimpleNames allow you to call an Item by a name that is easy to remember and easy to communicate via voice, all without losing your original Item names. If an Item has a SimpleName you can use it to communicate with specific items via Alexa, otherwise you can use an item's default name.
Follow the steps below to add a SimpleName so you can communicate with SimpleCommands with your own terms:
1. Press "Connections" on the home screen. And click "Add Favorites" at the bottom of the Favorites menu.
2. Access any Item list from anywhere in the App. Then long press the Item to add/change its SimpleName.
3. After adding the Item to your Favorites, press and hold on the Item. Now just type in your desired SimpleName and press "Update SimpleName". To confirm the update, press on the SimpleNames tab. If a Favorite has a SimpleName it will appear in this tab with orange text. Make sure to run Discovery on Alexa after creating/updating SimpleNames so you can use them with the Alexa Home skill!
If you would like to change or delete a SimpleName long-press the Item and press "Remove SimpleName". Don't forget to run Discovery on Alexa after you change your SimpleNames!
